"Turtles Forever" poster art concept

Lloyd Goldfine sent me this image a couple of days ago. It's something he and the crew at 4Kids worked up as a possible poster for the "Turtles Forever" animated special. I think it's pretty darn cool... and I surely wouldn't mind one hanging on my wall. -- PL

UPDATE 09-16-09! I just found the artist's blog with a nifty entry on how this poster art was created. Check it out at http://e-mannland.blogspot.com/2009/09/turtles-foreverposter.html

  1. Thanks for posting this, Peter!

I am incredibly excited to see this. I'm currently watching my TMNT 2k3 DVD's for seasons 3 and 4 in preparation for it. At first I thought it might be weird to have the old cartoon Turtles meet the new ones, but the more I think about it, I'm sure it'll be awesome. I can't wait!

  2. I LOVE this poster, please make a print of it and sell it at ninjaturtles.com or something. It's freaking awesome!

I can't wait to see the movie too. Any info on when it's going to air or be put on dvd?

  3. I love this!
the only thing is I wish we could see more characters instead of shadows..
    Thanks for sharing this!

  4. That is awesome. Gotta love good ol' fashioned "Turtle-Vision"!
Looking forward to Fan Expo this weekend. I hope we get to see more than just a few clips of this movie!

  5. This looks fantastic!

I was lucky enough to see this previewed at SDCC and this special was fantastic!

    Thanks for sharing!

  6. The filename suggests... a dvd release. Later this year?

Pete - DC and Marvel work in little animations with art work for their logos prior to each movies. Any chance we'll see something like that in front of future TMNT products?

    Can't wait !! !! !!

  8. NICE.

I'd love one on my wall too. But more than that I want to see that movie again, very badly. It was the highlight of SDCC and watching it once wasn't enough!

I hope they release it soon... :(

  9. Please pass on my compliments of bad-assness to the animators.

  10. Sigh... the Old Guys never looked better. It's AMAZING that they can reproduce the look and style of a totally different team of animators from about 20 years ago. These turtles seem to be based off of the 1990 CBS season of designs.

BTW, Peter, Why doesn't this get either a limited theater release, or a Prime Time airing?

  11. ME!!! MEMEMEMEMEMEMEME!!! I want a poster too! But I especially want that DVD when it comes out-- and I'm glad I saw it with such a large TMNT fan group-- it made it so much more enjoyable by being able to witness the reactions of some of my friends! I know a certain Rat King there who nearly did a victory lap when one of his long-time faves showed up-- and a certain visitor from Perth who was in tears at the end, she was that happy.

As far as I know right now, no deal has been done. But everyone involved really wants to see this thing released -- we just want to make the right deal. -- PL

  16. Wow!! Awesome poster!! Totally can't wait to see this film!

  17. Really, without a doubt, one of the coolest TMNT images I have ever seen in my life. You make a full-size print of this bad boy and I'm clearing some space on my wall next to the 1990 movie poster. It's that good.

  18. A pity the third team in the movie isn't on the poster... but that's a very good piece of art!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Wow, that is an incredible poster. I agree with the others; I'd love to have this.

devilbanex - The third team is present in the poster, but they're just silhouettes. Look above OT Leo's head.

On the same note, OT Shredder and Krang can be spotted above OT Raph's head.

    ReplyDelete
  20. -->> ..look even closer than that.

not only is the 3rd silhouette group represented, but other shaped creatures and things in the group joining Tokk and Rahz's attackers represent a few other things in the film.

    Look much closer - -

  21. im getting this fast as hell.
    whoa,mindfuck!
80s april is flying new casey!thats real funny
    haha,TURTLEVISION
and thats cool how the mirage turtles are in the background.

you could move the red spot to light them in a way similar to ish 1 if you wanted.

ever since galactose(hilarious name by the way,its my ringtone)
it actually is possible for the archie turts to meet the mirage ones now(though i could be wrong)
    a crossinner?

is this any closer to releasing or has format been decided on?
    thanks for the preview

Is Mirage/4Kids currently in talks with different companies concerning the dvd license of 2k3/Turtles Forever?

  23. Wow that is Amazing! Hey Pete would there be a way to purchase that poster? I would love to get one signed by you and quite possibly all four 2k3 voice actors. Now that would be a great collectors item to have.

    ReplyDelete
  24. So... yeah... wow... great :)

And I have to chime in about knowing how to get a hold of a printed copy of this...

I believe that was done by one of the 4Kids artists. -- PL

It is my understanding that such discussions are happening, though I am unclear on the details. -- PL

I also think it would be a good idea to print this poster, and I suspect that it WILL be printed at some point. However, I have no information about if/when that will be. -- PL

  27. Hmm...is it too cliche at this point to utter this?

    Oh what the heck not?

    "THIS IS DE-LICIOUS!!! YESH! YESH!"

Bison talk outta the way, this will be talk of Turtles fans for years to come...whether it'll be in harmony or constnat flame wars, that's to be seen.

One thing is certain, thank yo uso much for making this possible!

  28. I am absolutely in love with this image!

  29. The more I look at this poster, the more I sit back and ponder the different variations of the Turtles. This franchise has inspired my imagination since the old cartoon first aired on TV, when I was only 6. I'm so proud to be a fan of these awesome characters, and it'll be beyond cool to see the different Turtles' incarnations meet. It almost makes up for not being able to get a CGI movie based on TMNT #1!

Thanks, Peter, for creating what was such a big part of my childhood and continues to be so much fun today, and hopefully for many more decades to come!

  30. I'm glad they only used the Mirage Turtles up on the roof in silhouette on this poster.

I'm hoping I don't see any art of them in animated form until I see the movie in all honesty, It's going to be the wow moment for me.

I do like that they are in the same pose as the front of issue #1, though. Nice touch.

  31. Hey there Mr. Laird! I have been wanting to tell you this for some time now. I was talking to Tristan jones a while ago and I just wanted to share a part of the conversation with you. It is a new Tmnt Animated series idea. Here it is.

The next one should be entirely based on the comics.
    1:53amMirage

    That's what I keep saying!

You should write to Peter at his blog and let him know what you think!

He is really good with fans!
    1:54amAsher

And it should be on a adult channel so it wouldn't be cheesy. And they all should wear red bandanas

    Like adult swim.
    1:54amMirage

    I'm with you 100 percent!

    :D:D
    1:55amAsher

Most of the fans are older people. I think. So you would get more viewers than cw 4kids. Because kids don't understand the turtles as much.
    1:56amMirage

    That's exactly right dude!
    1:56amAsher

Ive been saying that for a while now! Finally somebody agrees!
    1:57amMirage

For sure man, I think it's a great idea!
    1:58amAsher

If Peter Laird wanted this to happen would it?
    1:58amMirage

Most likely, there'd be some avenue for it
    1:59amAsher

I gotta meet this guy and tell him this!
    1:59amMirage

    Go over to his blog!

PLEASE give this idea some thought Mr. Laird. The Tmnt are my life! And I would love to see them in a new animated series. Thanks.
