Serling head concepts

When we were working on conceptualizing the "Fast Forward" season of the TMNT show, I drew these sketches in an attempt to work out a good look for Serling the robot's head. It was a fun design exercise. -- PL

  2. Hello Mr. Laird,

I wanted to ask a question, but was unsure where I could ask. I thought with this being an animated TMNT topic it might be slightly more relevant to post it here. I had read that Hun will be making an appearance in the Mirage "Tales of the TMNT" comics sometime soon. I am not sure how different or similar the two versions are going to be, but does this mean that there is a chance other characters like Bishop might appear in some way? I am really looking forward to seeing how he comes across as I really grew to like Hun in the TV Show!

  5. -->> ..Sterling kicks so much ass !!

A whole different level of humour and a breath of fresh air for the Turtes.

Don't care what anyone sez.. easily a fave and an excellent, fun character !! Playing off Richie Rich ..but only cooler.
And his ultimate sacrifice for Cody was gut wrenching. (( and his resurrection was so rad !! )) !!

On the offset, cranky ol' Serling is brilliant !!

Hope we haven't seen the last of him ..

  6. Heh,

paaate, the only one I didn't really care for was the eye on track one :). Looked a bit too weird for a main character :). But all the rest, includig the Star Wars like one in the first drawing, right hand side, looked rather cool :).

I have to say I never found Serling annoying and he turned into a fun character for the turtles to annoy :).

The Hun that will appear in "Tales of the TMNT" will be the Hun from the TV series, albeit with a few differences, mostly to fit him into Mirage TMNT continuity. Tristan Jones will be writing these stories, and I think it's a neat way to expand upon the character in some ways which aren't really possible in the TV show.

As for Bishop... I suppose it's possible, but as yet no one has submitted such an idea or plot. It might be a little more difficult to fit him into Mirage TMNT continuity than it was for Hun, but I wouldn't consider it impossible. -- PL

  8. First off I love it, you have no idea how happy it makes me to see that you had more of a hand in Fast Forward than I orig. thought you even did.
Serling is great and I'm happy he and Viral will be back next season, I really am dissapointed that we won't get a season 2 of FF with Space Usagi and the Triceraton Shredder and Baxter having a real body again but oh well what can ya do eh?

Well maybe if Mirage was accepting outside stories beyond Tristan, you guys might get some other great stories and artists to come in and add a fresh perspective. :)
    Just my 2 cents

p.s. I would love to see more Fast Forward art or anything you would like to share, I unlike most people (besides a select few) loved this break from the darker side of the show.

  9. With Serling and Viral coming to modern times, is there any chance the Dark Turtles will be used in the future, since I found their characters and story arc to be one of the more interesting aspects of Fast Forward.

As of this moment, there are no plans to do anything with the Dark Turtles from "Fast Forward". But while I would categorize their reappearance in a possible upcoming season as unlikely, I wouldn't say that it's impossible. -- PL

  11. I must say, Serling did more or less grow on me... that John Cleese rip-off robot Biggles, however... >.>

I think Serling began to really impress me because of the VA being the same guy who voiced Casey-- PLUS the writing was getting better.

I did like the Dark Turtles as well, and the Inuwashi Gunjin-- so many promising things...

OH! I got off-track. Regarding Hun appearing in the comic-- I trust that your brilliant artists will NOT have his armpits attached at his navel level, as those pics from 4Kids promise he will look.

Cynthia (who forgets to post her real name a lot-- sorry).
